BLS Healthcare Instructor Course

The BLS Instructor Essentials Course is designed to prepare instructor candidates to teach AHA Instructor-led and blended learning BLS Provider courses. It educates instructor candidates on how to use AHA Instructor teaching materials, ensures that students meet learning objectives, offers student coaching skills, provides an objective skills performance evaluation, and follows AHA Instructor and course policies. The course covers core content and discipline-specific content required to teach AHA courses. An AHA Instructor conducts video-based lessons and works with students to complete the ACLS and AED skills practice and testing. A course typically lasts 3 hours.

Skills Checks are performed from 7:00am to 7:00pm.

Instructor Courses are conducted on Fridays and Saturdays at 9:00AM

To become an AHA Instructor, please adhere to the requirements below:

  • Current ACLS PROVIDER Card
  • Complete the American Heart Association’s Core Instructor Course
  • Attend a BLS Healthcare Instructor Course
  • Complete a monitored session of your first Instructor Course
